You have probably seen news headlines like “Someone in 2010 bought 2 pizzas with 10,000 bitcoins — which today would be worth $100 million”, and it left you scratching your head. Bitcoin and an equally vague term blockchain have started to enter the mainstream. Yet, 99% of the world still does not understand what blockchain and bitcoin are and why they matter.

Blockchain and Bitcoin are arguably the most important inventions of the 21st century, and the industry is growing at a breakneck pace with the some of the smartest coders in the world. In this course, you will learn what bitcoin and blockchain are, how they will change the world, and ways to get involved with the industry from a blockchain expert from Brown University. With the knowledge from this course, you will be able to easily explain bitcoin and blockchain to your friends and colleagues.

The Internet automated data retrieval and communication. The blockchain automates trust, which could make it even more profound than the Internet. The blockchain industry is still in its early stages like the 1990’s of the Internet. The Amazons, Ubers and Googles of the blockchain industry have yet to be invented, and after this course, you will have the knowledge to be at the forefront of this novel and interesting industry.

What to Expect:
During this one day course, you will:

  • Learn about the origins of bitcoin and blockchain
  • Interactively see how it works.
  • Learn how to buy, trade, and store bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
  • Learn about the newest cryptocurrencies (Ethereum, Monero, Nano) that are leading some of the biggest innovations in the blockchain space.
  • Develop ideas for how blockchain could change your current industry.

Lunch will also be included. The course is from 9am – 5pm.

Who Should Attend?
No prior coding or blockchain experience is needed to take the course, and this course is open to all students. The course is built in a way that all concepts are explained so even a student with zero experience can understand them.
People who may be interested:

  • Business executives searching for ways that blockchain can be applied to their current company
  • Coders looking to get involved in this new industry
  • Curious students wanting to deep dive into an exciting technology revolution

What’s in it for me?
Blockchain positions lead LinkedIn’s list of fastest-growing jobs, while blockchain developer positions have increased 33 times over since 2014. So, getting a head start in this technology is a great way to set yourself apart! Furthermore, almost every industry may one day be disrupted by blockchain in a similar fashion as the Internet. Being at the forefront of this industry could be incredibly important over the next decade.
